Essence Matt Matt Matt Longlasting Lipgloss ('Beauty-Aproved') | Review

A matte lipgloss? Is that even possible?? Essence released an entire range of matt matt matt long-lasting lipglosses, which are supposed to be mousse lipglosses with a velvety matte finish. The name of this product is rather confusing to me, are these matte liquid lipsticks or lipglosses? I was so intrigued and curious, and to be honest I hoped these were matte liquid lipsticks because you know I'm obsessed with them. So of course, I had to try one out for myself and see what this formula is all about.

The packaging of the Matt Matt Matt lipglosses looks very basic but fun at the same time. The product comes in a transparant tube, with black details and cap. Again, the name of the actual shade is only noticeable on the little barcode-sticker, which I think sucks since I prefer to get rid of those ugly stickers.

There are five different shades available:

❤ La Vie Est Belle
❤ Beauty-Approved!
❤ Girl Of Today
 Ready, Set, Impress!
❤ Simply Be An Icon

As I do most of the time, I only grabbed one shade so that if I don't like the formula I didn't waste too much money on the entire collection. I decided to go for the shade Beauty-Approved!

Beauty-Approved is a light pinky nude with peach undertones. As this swatch clearly shows, this doesn't have the best color pay-off. It's nicely pigmented, but not what I'm used to in a liquid lipstick. The formula is very moussy and doesn't exactly have a matte finish. It's a velvety semi-matte finish that definitely has some shine to it and they're a tad bit streaky. These also don't dry down, so they're not transfer-proof and more comfortable to wear.

The applicator works great, it's the perfect size, quite stiff and it houses just enough product to cover your lips.

The lasting power of this lip product really disappointed me. After about two hours I had reapply it and it definitely wears off after you had a drink or you ate something.

These matt lipglosses definitely have a noticeable scent, it smells like vanilla coffee, but in a nice way. I don't think the scent is overpowering and it fades away after application.

I'm wearing the Essence Matt Matt Matt Longlasting Lipgloss in 'Beauty-Approved!' on my lips.

Am in love with this lip product? No. I also think the name is very confusing. But, I do think these are way better than the newest Catrice Velvet Matt Lip Creams, those were absolutely horrible. I just wish this matt lipgloss had more pigmentation, looked less streaky and dried down to a matte finish, but it doesn't. Also, I'm pretty sure these matt matt matt lipglosses are the exact same as their Stay Matt Lip Creams, which they released about three years ago and also did an entire review on, just in a different packaging. It even smells the same!

The new Matt Matt Matt Longlasting Lipglosses by Essence are now available at Kruidvat or online for €2,39 (5 ml). I think it's definitely worth the price since these are so affordable, I'm just not the biggest fan of this formula and I wish they resembled your classic matte liquid lipstick more.
