E.l.f. Cream Contour Palette

Contouring is all the rage these days and I'm totally digging it! I've been using powder contour products for years now and I love how you can manipulate and enhance your features using different techniques. I haven't ventured into cream contouring that much, but when I was sent the new e.l.f. cream contour palette it was the perfect opportunity for me to play around with cream contour products, and of course give you guys my opinion on this budget-friendly drugstore cream contour palette!

The new cream contour palette comes in the same packaging as their blush palettes. It has a huge mirror inside and comes with 4 pans, which you can pop out and mix with other E.l.f. palettes to custom create your own perfect palette.  Each square is pretty big and comes with a decent amount of product. The entire contour palette contains 12.4 g of product.

The cream contour palette currently comes in only one shade, which is definitely a huge downside! They did make that up by adding 3 different contour/bronzer shades which could work on a variety of skin-tones.

This palette comes with a yellow-toned matte highlighter, a cool-toned contour shade and two warmer bronze shades, one is deeper than the other.

These cream contour shades are super smooth, almost slippery feeling if that makes any sense. They're pigmented but also a little bit sheer at the same time, which is perfect for customizing the intensity. You could go really heavy with these, or apply a subtle, more natural amount. They blend really easily into the skin and once they dry, they have a powdery finish, without looking too powdery or emphasizing any pores.

As I mentioned, they dry down to a powdery finish without looking dewy or wet, which why these creams also work amazingly on oily to combination skin-types. On the areas where I would apply my contour I'm usually relatively dry and these creams work perfectly in these areas. But since they dry down to a powdery finish, I could still pull this off on a hot Summer day, which is perfect! I always set these with some powder and it doesn't fade away throughout the day. However, if you don't set these with powder (translucent or contour powder), I can imagine these fading away after just a couple of hours, depending on your skin-type.

I like applying (and blending) these cream contour shades with my e.l.f. blurring brush, which works perfectly with the creamy texture.

Is this a holy grail everyday product for me? No. But it is nice for those days where I want to get extra glam, I just don't see myself grabbing for this on an everyday basis. But I'm hoping e.l.f. will come out with more variaties, maybe one with some cooler tones as well as deeper, more warm tones. In the meantime, I think this is an amazing cream contour palette that is perfect for beginners as well as more advanced peeps. The creams are smooth, pigmented and easily blendeable and they're quite long wearing.

The new e.l.f. cream contour palette is available online here for €8 (12.4 g), which is super affordable and you should definitely check it out if you're into cream contouring or if you want to get into it.
